Martin Gardner's Celebration of Mind

Gathering 4 Gardner's Celebration of Mind is a world-wide event celebrating the life of Martin Gardner (1914-2010). Martin Gardner is known for his decades of work in recreational mathematics, including authoring the Mathematical Games column in Scientific American for 25 years. His efforts introduced a variety of mathematical games, puzzles and subjects to a broad audience for the first time, including the Game of Life, tangrams, and fractals.

Martin Gardner passed away on May 22nd, 2010. While he wished for no memorials, he did express a wish for the Gatherings for Gardner to continue on. With this in mind, we will celebrate his life, along with dozens of other groups around the world, by continuing Gardner's pursuit of playful approaches to mathematics, puzzles, and beyond. We hope to see you there!
